DPS successfully completed its participation in the SDIKA (Secure Digital Identities Karlsruhe) showcase project at the end of August 2024.
SDIKA, one of four projects funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, aims to establish cross-application, far-reaching digital identities based on self-sovereign identity (SSI) technology in open ecosystems.
As part of the project, DPS developed an open-technology IBAN credential platform that is compatible with common wallets and enables the secure exchange of user and contracting party data without third parties being able to see it. In addition, a web app was created that enables users to verify the IBAN credential in the wallet at their bank and to process all payments via the various SEPA schemes in the future: from classic SEPA direct debits to Instant Payments and the new Request-to-Pay payment method.
Special attention was paid to the topic of wallets, which will continue to form a central component of secure digital identity solutions in the future. Wallets make it possible to manage digital identities in a secure, user-friendly and decentralised manner – a challenge that DPS will continue to pursue in future projects.
“We would like to expressly thank the FZI Research Centre for Information Technology and all project partners for their constructive and trusting cooperation”, says Joachim Dorschel, Managing Partner at DPS. “Together, we have made an important research contribution to the development of secure digital identities in Germany.”
With its successful participation in the project, DPS underlines its expertise in the field of digital identities and wallet solutions and looks forward to future developments in this area.
