DPS and INIT are among the first partners in the European Central Bank’s (ECB) new innovation programme for the development of the Digital Euro. Both companies are contributing their respective expertise to a joint project for conditional payments with the Digital Euro that is particularly relevant to everyday life.
With the innovation platform, the ECB is testing specific use cases in close cooperation with selected players from the European economy. The aim is to evaluate the technical feasibility and practical benefits of potential use cases at an early stage – under real conditions and in line with practical experience.
As a Europe-wide specialist in payment transactions with many years of experience in transaction banking, DPS supports numerous financial institutions in transforming their infrastructures. INIT is the world’s leading provider of integrated planning, dispatching, telematics and ticketing systems for local public transport and brings comprehensive expertise from the mobility sector to the project.
Emre Taspolatoglu, Technology Manager at DPS: ‘We are delighted to be one of the first partners to participate in this innovation project. It is a valuable opportunity to gain early technical insights into the further development of the digital euro and to contribute ideas for a practical design.’
Martin Nylund, Fintech Manager at INIT, adds: ‘Participating in the ECB project allows us to follow the development of digital payment solutions at close quarters. At the same time, we are contributing our experience from the mobility sector – an environment that is particularly well suited to evaluating new technologies with a view to their suitability for everyday use.’
