DPS CEO Philipp Königs is a guest on the latest episode of Currency Research’s P.I.T. Exchange Podcast. The conversation, which lasts just over 45 minutes, focuses on current developments in payments and capital markets and explores how new technologies can be integrated with existing IT infrastructures.
Among other things, Königs discusses instant payments, ISO 20022 and cross-border payments, as well as stablecoins, the digital euro and the growing importance of tokenisation. A particular focus is on the growing interconnection between payments and the capital markets. In the capital markets context, this also covers T+1 and, looking ahead, T+0, along with the associated requirements for processes and systems.
New technologies meet Legacy IT
At the same time, Königs discusses the technological foundation upon which these changes are taking place. Legacy systems and new platforms will continue to coexist in parallel for some time to come. In the podcast, he therefore also talks about COBOL and mainframe systems, as well as the possibilities of using AI to modernise existing applications.
The podcast is available on Currency Research in video format. The conversation can be listened to in audio format on Spotify, YouTube and Apple Podcasts, amongst others.
