DPS is supporting the ‘Circularthon’ ideas competition of the Klima-Community Stuttgart e.V. as a sponsor and partner. The Circularthon is looking for and awarding prizes to innovative concepts for sustainable circular economy. In addition to prize money, DPS is contributing its own ‘Circular Challenge’.
The topic of the challenge is: ‘Where do IT and banking touch on the circular economy?’. The focus here is on the importance of data. Banks require reliable information on the sustainability and recyclability of companies and their products in order to make well-founded financing decisions. Important aspects include the quality, transparency and verifiability of the data, as well as incentives for closing data gaps.
A competition for creative minds
Participants in the challenge are to develop creative solutions for how the required data can be digitally collected, processed and evaluated. The Circularthon is aimed at student teams, non-profit associations, start-ups without investors as shareholders, as well as individuals or civil society initiatives.
How the competition works
The Circularthon is a two-stage process:
- Phase 1: Submission of initial ideas in four categories/challenges to the Stuttgart climate community by 28 February 2025.
- Phase 2: End of March 2025 – Selection and further development of the most exciting sketches per category into more detailed concepts
- Final: The expert jury will select the winners at the end of April/beginning of May and present the concepts to the climate community in consultation with them. In addition to prize money, the winners can expect valuable contacts with companies and public recognition.
Commitment to a sustainable future
The Klima-Community Stuttgart e.V., which is organising the Circularthon, is a non-profit project that was initially funded by the Stuttgart Climate Innovation Fund and is now supported by nine sponsoring members – including DPS.
