The economy of tomorrow: a well-rounded affair

By Melanie Weiss

The circular economy: behind this term, you’ll find hidden one of the greatest challenges facing the future viability of our economy.

The aim is to utilise finite raw materials and resources throughout the value chain in such a way that they remain at our disposal for as long as possible. A paradigm shift is currently underway here: A shift from the linear “production-disposal” mentality, and towards so-called circularity, i.e. a resource-saving, modular and repair-friendly design and manufacturing method for products. From pencils to construction machinery: everything has to be optimised in terms of its subsequent impact on material cycles. The guiding principle here is the European Parliament’s action plan as part of the “Green Deal”: this envisages the EU becoming a climate-neutral continent with the realisation of a “circular economy” by 2050.

Data will play a major role in adhering to this ambitious timeline: when it comes to comparative values and data models – What is robust and durable? How is reusability to be priced? And so on and so on – but also in the form of digital solutions for the fulfilment of quality criteria, the creation of transparency, etc.

As a software and consulting company, we see ourselves as a partner in this discipline. We look forward to rendering our contribution, developing ideas and implementing projects for the circular economy of tomorrow’s world.
