The winners of the “Competition for Stuttgart Climate Projects” were presented at an online event on 20 April 2023. The Stuttgart Climate Community and the Climate Protection Office of the City of Stuttgart invited initiatives, action groups and participants of sustainability and climate protection projects to present their ideas.
The jury, consisting of Karoline von Graevenitz (Stadtwerke Stuttgart), Steffen Braun (Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft) and Yotrana Youkhana (City of Stuttgart), selected the following winners:
1st place – Kidical Mass Stuttgart: The initiators have the vision that all children can move safely and independently by bicycle. With regular joint rides, they campaign for safe and continuous (school) routes in Stuttgart.
2nd place – Cradle to Cradle Klimamobil: The group wants to build a Klimamobil that only consists of materials from the circular economy. The aim is to inform people about this topic.
3rd place – Schwammstadt: The idea of the project group from the west of Stuttgart is to collect rainwater from residential buildings in a residential neighbourhood in order to conserve valuable water resources and relieve the city’s sewage system.
The three projects were awarded prize money donated by the DPS management.
The Climate Community is a joint project of DPS and BABLE Smart Cities and is funded by the Stuttgart Climate Innovation Fund. The aim of the project is to build an interactive, socially networked user-friendly and secure online community that allows citizens to coordinate climate measures locally.
